Poker legend Scotty Nguyen has spoken out on his views about modern players and how they rely on the luck of the draw more than
anything else.
The five-time World Series of Poker winner believes that because of the internet, poker is an extremely different game to a decade
or so ago, when he was at his peak.
Speaking to one of the best about the current crop of poker professionals, Nguyen said: “I don't fear any of the new generation. They
fear me baby!”
“You cannot beat the game if you fear someone. But you can beat the game if they fear you. It is different now because there's so many
different ways that everyone is playing.”
“In the old days, back then everyone played right. Now a lot of people play on luck more than skill, they take more chances. But to me
it really doesn't matter because I love the challenge.”
Many poker fans debating the best texas holdem poker site know Nguyen for his controversial
behaviour at the table of course. The 48-year-old is well known for trying to intimidate opponents, something that often leads to
criticism.
On this subject, he continued: “When I give someone hell at the tables I don't cross the line that makes them hate me. I may bust
them but they still respect me because they know I never cross a line that shouldn't be crossed.”
Nguyen then revealed how he doesn’t pay attention to forums, so any negative comments about him are always ignored. Even if he did
read them, you get the impression he wouldn’t care too much anyway!
As for what the future holds, he revealed that he hasn’t finished winning tournaments just yet, saying: “I still want to repeat the
Main Event win...and win every other tournament I haven't won yet baby!”
It is always interesting when Nguyen is at the table, even his critics looking at UK online poker will have to admit that. Who knows what 2012 will hold for him.
